Sometimes the best part about getting fit is having a workout partner that can help hold us accountable. For Katie Holmes, that person is her 13-year-old daughter, Suri Cruise. The actress covers the December issue of Shape, where she opens up about her fitness routine and self-care practices.
Katie mentioned that she likes to exercise four times a week, making sure to switch things up on occasion to prevent herself from getting bored. “I like Spinning, boxing, and yoga, and sometimes I’ll take a dance class,” she said. “I have my own Spin bike, so I can do it at home when I have to get up really early; otherwise I go to FlywheelSports. I got into boxing a couple of years ago, and now I take classes at Rumble. They play great music, and it’s so fun. It targets your upper body, which is good because I can forget to do that.”
The 41-year-old also talked about hitting the gym with her daughter on occasion. “Sometimes I work out with my daughter,” she said. “It just depends on the day. We have our routines, and occasionally they overlap. But I don’t force her to work out with me because I know that’s lame.” Katie welcomed Suri with her ex-husband, Tom Cruise, in 2006. In the interview, she briefly opened up about the bond the two of them share.
“I feel very blessed to have such a special daughter,” she said. “Being her mom is absolutely the greatest gift and privilege.” Head over to Shape.com to read Katie’s full interview.
