In the dietary world, beans have been a pretty hot topic. Especially when it comes to weight loss. Because although the nutritional value of beans for fat loss seems great on paper, new research has popped up suggesting potential dangers hidden beneath the surface. So what are you to make of it? Are beans actually good for weight loss? And what are the dangers associated with having them in your diet? I’m going to clear all that up for you in this video along with some simple preparation techniques to eliminate some of the potential dangers.

Now, before we look at what’s bad about beans, we need to talk about what’s good about them. And when it comes to weight loss, there’s actually a lot that’s great about beans. They’re high in protein, high in fiber and low in fat. All that combined with the fact that they are a low glycemic food (won’t spike your blood sugar) makes them a solid choice to look towards in a fat loss diet.

But, as we’re starting to discover, there are some health risks associated with beans that you should look out for. The anti-nutrients. These guys which include lectins and hemagglutinin are like the evil twin of the healthy nutrients we want in our food. They are nature’s defense mechanism for certain foods to avoid being eaten because as you’ll discover in this video, there are some real dangers and health risks associated with eating too much of them.

But…we can do something about it. We can outsmart the bean and break down that defensive barrier with a few simple preparation techniques you’ll discover more about in this video. These include soaking, sprouting, and pressure cooking your beans, all of which eliminate those anti-nutrients and make them safe and, in my opinion, a little more tasty.

So what’s the skinny? Are beans good for weight loss diets or not? Well, here at the Fit Father Project, we think so. But, you need to make sure you are using the proper preparation methods when cooking them to eliminate those anti-nutrients and avoid any of the risks. You need to outsmart the beans and make them safe to eat by soaking, sprouting, or even pressure cooking them overnight.

So if you enjoy beans and you’re on a fat loss diet, the good news is that they are in fact a good choice for you, just make sure to prepare them correctly. I hope this guide clears up any questions you have on whether or not beans are good for weight loss, and I encourage you to check out our YouTube channel at the link below for my guides and tutorials like this.
